Limiting Air Polluiton

Scope Of The Project

South Bookham Space at Keystone House is a vibrant community centre run by volunteering residents of Bookham, Surrey. The centre is being refurbished and extended to accommodate the future needs of the local residents with an emphasis on early years, youth and sport. We supported the project in providing a BREEAM Refurbishment and Fit Out Pre-Assessment and offering compliance guidance based on policy CS19 of the Mole Valley Core Strategy.

Tools For Tasks Implementation

Working with the design team, we provided interim assessments at RIBA Stages 2 and 3, once the detailed drawings, specifications, and calculations were complete. Our Assessors provided input and recommendations to the overall design and cost plan that would support meeting the BREEAM requirements to achieve a ‘Very Good’ standard.

Solutions

Through efficient procurement strategies, considered waste and water management and reduced carbon emissions, our recommendations enabled the client to meet the sustainability targets of BREEAM credit requirements and reduce the overall running cost of the development.

Challenges For Tasks Implementation

In preparation for the renovation work, an environmental sustainability strategy was needed to ensure compliance with the Local Planning Authority requirements.

Key Achievements

The recommendations achieve a 58.74% rating on the BREEAM Refurbishment and Fit Out pre-assessment requirements, meeting the CS19 policy and achieving a ‘Very Good’ rating.

Benefits For Clients

In meeting the sustainability targets of BREEAM credit requirements, our client is able to attain efficient material and water use, manage waste effectively and cut carbon emissions and reduce the overall cost of their development.
